This exhibition of Helen Devouge, visual artist, is the result of 4 years of life spent in Guinea. In a testimony tinged with emotion, she says “I will leave Guinea in a few weeks and what I present today is the result of a work inspired by the discovery of a new culture for me.”
Héléne Devouge used a combination of many materials: the African loincloth, plastic, straw and especially aluminum. Most of the objects presented at the exhibition are the result of collaboration with aluminum smelters. “I wanted to show the extreme care they bring to their work and the miracle that allows for a used soda can to become a work of art.”
” African Step ”, an opening made of different objects which, in their diversity, are an artistic symbiosis well modeled by Hélène Devouge in a spirit of gratitude to the country that welcomed her for four years.
