Continuing its tradition as an agent for economic and social development in Africa, the Bolloré Group has launched an ambitious project aimed at reducing the energy divide in Guinea.
Between now and 2020, the Group plans to create living spaces for use by young people in Guinea. These spaces will be situated in various locations, including some of the most isolated regions in the country.
Self-sufficient in terms of energy, illuminated, and supplied with drinking water, these pioneering spaces are designed and intended to welcome young Guineans. These spaces will offer continuous services, free of charge, allowing local youth to play sports, listen to music or engage in professional activities. The opportunities presented by these bluezones will make it possible to improve the quality of life of the local populations and promote youth development.
In order to offer viable, functional living spaces to the youth of Guinea, the Bolloré Group is making use of a completely innovative energy solution.
In a Guinea that is still largely devoid of energy infrastructures, producing, storing and distributing electricity poses a significant challenge. That is why the Bolloré Group is developing an innovative energy system that is the only one of its kind in the world: through linking LMP (Lithium Metal Polymer) storage batteries with solar panels, these spaces dedicated to young Guineans can be supplied with clean, renewable, free electricity on a constant basis, day and night.
These connected living spaces will offer future users the opportunity to access new technologies, but their value extends far beyond the sphere of mere entertainment. Thanks to a number of partnerships with associations, young entrepreneurs’ groups, universities and certain media organisations, these innovative spaces are intended to act as educational centres, which will play a central role in the future of the Guinean youth.
This initiative by the Bolloré Group is part of its global development policy for Africa. Every year for over 50 years, the Bolloré Group, driven by a long-term vision, has invested no less than 300 million Euro each year in port and rail infrastructures and logistics.
During all of its development work, the Bolloré Group will pursue all possible synergies between its activities through Bolloré Africa Logistics and Blue Solutions and the field of media and communications.
